Uzes

Plan and design vouchers
& coupons app for time
and money savings

Role: UX & UI design

% of

U.S. consumers currently use
coupons for shopping

״Statistica״

Coupons & vouchers make shopping more
worthwhile for buyers as it cuts down prices.
Coupons make people feel good too,
as research by Dr. Paul J. Zak reveals that
coupons encourage the release of oxytocin

So, what seems to be the problem?

Coupons, Gift Cards, and Refunds Proof
are not managed, often forgotten, lost, and not used

A desire to exploit
vouchers

Vouchers not
realized

To find the best solution, I conducted
a comprehensive market analysis

  • Coupon apps, gifts & vouchers

  • Apps for malls & cultural institutions

  • Credit card & digital wallet applications

  • Log management, task & reminder apps

  • Research main conclusions

  • To encourage users to enter more than one voucher, we will enable scan, fast feed, and a blank template to facilitate uploads

  • Provide the user a sense of control and orientation with a main feed with balance and validity of coupons as well as a search bar for locating stores and vouchers

  • As a motivational tool, we will set goals such as creating a shopping list, providing direct navigation to stores and alerts before expiration

In addition, I interviewed 40 potential users
across a wide age range and spoke with business owners

Repetitive complaints by users
that prevent them from using vouchers

Users don’t know where they can redeem vouchers and feel limited

Vouchers with a balance are mistakenly discarded and lost

Vouchers are hidden and forgotten in a wallet, a bag, or at home

Users who forget to redeem vouchers in real-time are frustrated

Users are unaware of voucher balance, terms & respectable businesses

Over time vouchers fade/tear, they cannot be scanned or they expire

Vouchers in SMS and email are assimilated into hundreds of messages

Users don’t have the time and energy to manage it, and they rely on memory

Now, for example

  • Hanni always carries vouchers

but never know what the balance is

  • Shai tracks his coupons

but forgets to use them in real-time

Therefore, I came to some critical conclusions
that helped me approach the solution

  • To keep users motivated to use vouchers, we created the main feed with a list of the vouchers to induce the Zeigernik effect “Unfinished tasks create mental stress.” In addition, we will also send location-dependent notifications, such as at the entrance to the mall

  • To make sure users are aware of where they can redeem vouchers, we will represent a map with reputable businesses in the area and allow them to navigate directly (even within a shopping mall) as well as search by store/restaurant and offer relevant vouchers

  • To ensure users are aware of the balance of all vouchers they possess, we’ll present a central “feed” which displays the balance of the vouchers per category and priority, as well as the balance that’s continually updated

And finally, the solution
